The Bank of Canada announces its rate decision on Wednesday, October 28 at 9:45 a.m.
The policy rate is currently 2.25%. Variable-rate mortgages and HELOCs usually follow it, so it matters if you plan to borrow for a renovation.
A short daily for homeowners in the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario: one renovation question answered, new rebates and benefits with their deadlines, product recalls and weather alerts that matter at home.
Usually yes, and cheaply. For doors, clip-on soft-close dampers push onto the hinge arm in seconds — or swap the hinge itself for a soft-close version with the same 35 mm cup and the same mounting plate. For drawers, adhesive bumpers only quieten them; true soft-close means replacing the runners with a soft-close set of the same length and type. Do the doors first — that is the change you actually notice. (Flip’s own hinges already have the soft-close built in.)
