Waterloo Region: one-time grant for low-income households behind on hydro bills

The Waterloo Region Energy Assistance Program (WREAP) gives a one-time grant toward electricity bills to households that are behind on payments and either receive social assistance or have a low income. After-tax household income limits rise with household size, from under $38,000 up to $71,000 for five or more people. Before applying, you must talk to your utility about a payment plan. Apply by calling 519-883-2100, option 1, or get help at a Welcome Space in Cambridge, Kitchener or Waterloo.
